This is the laboratory version of a VISL-style German Grammar page. Choose and clip a sentence from our closed corpus or run a search in order to find a sentence containing a certain grammatical feature.

Task Definitions:

  • CG-Parse - constraint grammar analysis of running text
  • Morphcolours - running word class color notation
  • Interactive grammar - build your own analysis (form and function), assigning menue item categories to each word in turn, with the computer tutoring your choices
  • Open corpus search - search for words, base forms, grammatical category etc., or combinations of these, in a corpus of written English (word forms in double quotes, base forms in single quotes, tags separated by blank space, words by underscore, use '?' for one or more optional dummy words, ' ' [space] or '' [nothing] for obligatory dummy words)
  • Closed corpus search - search in a hand-tagged teaching corpus
  • V-trees - vertical tree analysis (enriched Constraint Grammar)
  • H-trees - horizontal tree analysis (traditional)
  • S-trees - graphical tree analysis (traditional)
