Filmquiz (fun break, no grammar)

In "Balloon Ride" you have to bring the balloon to the ground by adding weighty morphological features. The higher the balloon, the more features you must supply. In this game your knowledge of many different mophological features, e.g. tense, gender and number, is tested. Use the mouse to click on the appropriate feature, then drag it to the relevant balloon.

In the "Labyrinth" you try to find your way through a maze of word classes, each move being determined by the current word in a sentence randomly selected by the computer. To make sure you do not dawdle, a ghostly creature pursues you through the maze. If he catches you before you complete the path, you lose one of your lives. Use the arrow keys to move through the maze. At any given intersection, choose the appropriate word class. If the correct choice is not available at the intersection, you must go through the wall until you find the correct label. Your scores compete with other scores worldwide.

The "Paintbox" game tests your knowledge of word classes. Each word class is assigned a specific color and the objective of the game is to "paint" the words in a pre-analyzed sentence, or in a sentence (or larger text) of your choice, choosing the appropriate word class color from the palette.

At the "Post Office" you have to stamp syntactic function symbols onto words and clauses, using the famous Danish "Cross & Circle-system" (kryds-og-bolle). You can use pre-analyzed examples, examples from your text book, or you can make up your own sentences. To get a soft start, you can work with a reduced or tailor-made subset of symbols.

The "Shooting gallery" is another game which tests your knowledge of word classes. The computer selects a particular word class to test you on, and then sends a series of sentences across the screen. Your task is to shoot down words belonging to the given word class, using the mouse to aim at and shoot the appropriate words. Your scores compete with other scores worldwide.

"SpaceRescue" tests your knowledge of clause functions. Extraterrestrial creatures have captured your sentence and guard it in the recesses of outer space. With laser beams from your spaceship, you try to annihilate the enemy, constituent by constituent. Each time a constituent is freed, you send in a rescue ship and the correct code (that is, sentence function). When all the constituents have been freed and identified, a new sentence is supplied. But beware of flying meteorites and shrapnel which attack your spaceships and rescue ships whenever you make an error! Use the arrow keys to move the fighter plane into position; use the space bar to shoot with; press the letter 'r' to send in a rescue ship; use the letter keys 'a' (ascend) and 'd' (descend) to locate the function code; press the 's' key to send the code. When the sentence is fully analyzed, press the 'r' key again to bring in a new sentence. Your scores compete with other scores worldwide.

"Syntris" is a syntactic Tetris look-alike where you can test your skill in applying function labels to pre-analyzed constituents. The computer finds a random sentence, divides it into constituents, and your task is then to select the appropriate function label from a set of choices supplied by the computer. This is done by using the arrow keys to put the correct label at the bottom of the falling list. You can speed the descent by pressing the space bar (the more often you press it, the faster the list will fall). Your scores compete with other scores worldwide.

"WordFall" tests your knowledge of word classes in another fashion. The computer picks a random sentence from the set of pre-analyzed sentences, and then lets the words fall, one at a time. As they fall, you use the arrow keys to direct them into the appropriate word class container at the bottom of the screen. These containers have the same color scheme as the one used in the Paintbox. Press the down arrow to increase word fall speed. Compete worldwide for high scores.
